"We don't have an employee hired to handle GDPR full-time. It quickly gets a big extra task in a busy workday"

Christina Kjerside
Compliance Manager

At HDI Global, the responsibility for GDPR lies with a few employees who are already responsible for legal and compliance-related tasks. This makes it difficult to prioritize and keep up – especially when time is short and risks are high.

One of these employees is Christina Kjerside, Compliance Manager at HDI Global, a Danish insurance provider and part of an international group with companies across the globe.

Christina Kjerside is responsible for both legal and compliance matters in the Danish unit, including the GDPR area.

Although she has a legal background and previous experience with data protection, it’s not a task that can be done with ease. There are many requirements that she must continuously follow up on. Also, it can be difficult to assess when something is critical – and when it can wait.

"I can solve a lot myself, but sometimes it's important to get a second opinion. Especially if I'm dealing with something that could be a potential breach."
 Christina Kjerside

A responsibility that quickly can overwhelm you

Working with GDPR isn't just about documents and procedures – it's also about keeping up. There are requests from customers and colleagues, and in certain cases, incidents arise that require an immediate response.

"The difficult part for me isn’t understanding the rules. The difficult part is getting everything done – on time and with peace of mind."
Christina Kjerside

Christina Kjerside describes it as an ongoing prioritization task, where new questions arise ongoing: "What should I do now, what can wait, and what have I actually already covered?"

But there isn’t always someone to spar with because she’s solely responsible. And if doubts arise – especially in critical cases – it’s difficult to feel 100% confident in your decisions.

"If I am faced with a potential incident, I cannot wait several days for feedback. I must respond quickly and correctly."
Christina Kjerside

At the same time, Christina Kjerside acknowledges that GDPR isn’t an area that you can ‘just’ keep up with. It requires a major and sustained effort.

A system and a partner that prioritizes the compliance work

ComplyCloud became a key support in the day-to-day work with GDPR. Christina Kjerside quickly began to actively use both the platform and Managed Services – and this brought calm and direction to the tasks.

"I was dealing with everything myself, but with ComplyCloud and their Managed Services, I gained both structure and a professional partner I could lean on."
Christina Kjerside

The platform gives an overview: It generates automatic tasks, shows which policies she needs to update, and keeps track of which documentation she has in place.

But it’s via Managed Services, and in her collaboration with ComplyCloud's legal consultant Emil, that Christina Kjerside really experiences progress and support.

They meet regularly every 2-3 months and agree on what she should prioritize. Between meetings, Christina Kjerside also uses Emil as a sparring partner – especially in situations of doubt where she needs to react here and now.

"I use him to discuss risks, ensure quality and gain professional peace of mind. It's a great help when you're alone with a lot of responsibility."
Christina Kjerside

Professional security and practical progress

One of the major advantages of the solution is that there’s always a plan. Follow-ups are done, and there’s someone to help keep the work on track – even when other tasks take up most of the time.

"It’s like having a colleague in the background. Someone who knows where we are and what is important right now."
Christina Kjerside

This means that Christina Kjerside saves both time and mental resources. She doesn't have to keep track of all the deadlines herself – and she knows she can get quick advice if something suddenly comes up.

"I trust the feedback I get 100% – and that saves me both time and worry."
Christina Kjerside

A solution that makes it possible to be compliant in practice

For Christina, ComplyCloud isn’t just a tool, but a way of working that makes it possible to tackle a complex task – without having to invent the processes herself.

"We get far more out of it than we pay for. That's invaluable when you don't have the internal resources to do it."
Christina Kjerside

She feels that it's not just about price – but about the peace of mind and security she gets in return:

"When you don't have a dedicated employee to take care of GDPR, like we don't, the price becomes a little irrelevant. The most important thing is that we get a good product – and that I can get a correct answer within a day or two. That means I can rest assured that we’re compliant."
 Christina Kjerside

Today, she feels better equipped to navigate GDPR compliance. The tasks are visible, advice is available, and priorities are clear. This makes compliance manageable – and secure.
